    SECTION 01040

    MOBILIZATION

   PART 1 - GENERAL

   1.01 SECTION INCLUDES

    Furnishing all construction plant and equipment, under the following provisions, to qualify for the mobilization payment.

   1.02 DESCRIPTION

    A. The mobilization allowance shall be the amount indicated in the bid form. This allowance has been established to be applied against Contractor's cost of preparation and mobilization to perform the work.

    B. Payments for mobilization will be authorized by the Engineer in three parts, according to the following schedule.

    1. A payment of 50 percent of the mobilization allowance will be authorized after the required insurance has been approved, assignment of the Site Safety Officer, and the Contractor's field office(s), have been installed at the jobsite in an approved location, complete with all-weather access road, parking area, utilities, and interior furnishings. The requirements for field office facilities are covered under Section 01590.

    2. A payment of 25 percent of the mobilization allowance will be authorized upon delivery of the tunnelling equipment to the project site.

    3. A payment of 25 percent of the mobilization allowance will be authorized when the Contractor completes at least 300-feet of tunnel excavation through rock and has equipment and materials sufficiently deployed on the jobsite as required to maintain progress of the work in accordance with the construction schedule, submitted by the Contractor and accepted by the Engineer in accordance with Article 2 of the General Conditions and Section 01311 of the Technical Specifications.

   1.03 - MEASUREMENT

    A. Mobilization payment to the contractor will be authorized after written request for payment by the Contractor certifying that all conditions in each case described above have been met. The Engineer will make a physical inspection before approving the Contractor's request for payment.

    B. After the Engineer verifies the Contractor's request for payment, the Contractor shall enter the amount of mobilization due on his monthly estimate.

   1.04 - PAYMENT

    A. Payments for mobilization will be made at the Contract price under the Item "Allowance for Mobilization." Partial payments may be made in accordance with the Contract Documents.

    B. The mobilization payment will be subjected to the retainage stipulated in the Contract Documents.
