PART 1 - GENERAL
01 SECTION INCLUDES
A. Extent of site clearing is shown on drawings.
B. Site clearing includes, but is not limited to:
1. Protection of existing trees.
2. Removal of trees and other vegetation.
3. Topsoil stripping.
4. Clearing and grubbing.
5. Removing above-grade improvements.
6. Removing below-grade improvements.
1.02 JOB CONDITIONS
A. Traffic: Conduct site clearing operations to ensure minimum interference with roads, streets, walks, and other adjacent occupied or used facilities. Do not close or obstruct streets, walks or other occupied or used facilities without permission from authorities having jurisdiction.
B. Protection of Existing Improvements: Provide protections necessary to prevent damage to existing improvements indicated to remain in place.
1. Protect improvements on adjoining properties and on Owner's property.
2. Restore damaged improvements to their original condition, as acceptable to parties having jurisdiction.
C. Protect existing utility service from damage. Location of existing utilities shall be verified by Contractor prior to commencing work.

A. Not applicable to work of this section.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
03 SITE CLEARING
A. General: Remove trees, shrubs, grass and other vegetation, improvements, or obstructions interfering with installation of new construction. Remove such items from site or premises as required. Removal includes digging out stumps and roots.
B. Carefully and cleanly cut roots and branches of trees indicated to be left standing, where such roots and branches obstruct new construction.
C. Topsoil: All topsoil disturbed during construction shall be disposed of as a special waste containing low levels of lead. (Reference Section 02220, Excavation, Backfill and Compaction).
D. Removal of Improvements: Remove existing above-grade and below-grade improvements necessary to permit construction and other work as indicated.
1. Abandonment or removal of certain underground pipe or conduits may be shown on the drawings, and is included under work of those sections. Removal of abandoned underground piping or conduit interfering with construction is included under this section. Accomplish removal and replacement of existing utility service which will interfere with the work using those who will perform the work of the new utility service installation.
04 DISPOSAL OF WASTE MATERIALS
A. Burning is not permitted on Owner's property.
B. Remove waste materials and all topsoil from Owner's property and dispose of off site in legal manner as a special waste.
