    WASTE MATERIAL DISPOSAL

   PART 1 - GENERAL

   1.01 SECTION INCLUDES

    A. Disposal of trees, stumps, logs, brush, roots, grass, vegetation, humus, rubbish, broken concrete, asphalt pavement and other objectionable matter. Also included is the disposal of excess excavated materials from tunnel, structure, and trench excavations.

    B. Disposal of excavated material that is classified as "special waste" or "solid waste" by the TDEC Division of Solid Waste Management Regulations.

   PART 2 - PRODUCT

    A. Specific products are not required. Use equipment and materials necessary to properly complete disposal of waste materials. Obtain approval from the Engineer for the equipment and materials to be used before beginning disposal of waste materials. The Contractor shall notify the Engineer of the proposed disposal sites.

   PART 3 - EXECUTION

   3.01 DISPOSAL AREA

    A. Waste material shall be removed from the work site and disposed of in a manner not to endanger the health and safety of the Owner or other persons.

    B. Strip the disposal area of vegetation, humus, or other debris. Strippings become the property of the Contractor, to be disposed of with other waste materials.

    C. Protect trees designated for preservation. Take special care not to damage trees designated for preservation which are outside limits of waste disposal areas.

   3.02 PERMITS

    A. Contractor to obtain, at his expense, any permits required for the disposal of waste material.

   3.03 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT

    A. With the exception of "special waste" and "solid waste" work and materials covered under this section shall not be paid for directly, but shall be considered subsidiary to the various bid items required to complete the project.

   

    B. Special waste and solid waste excavation, handling and disposal shall be paid for under separate bid items.
