   1.05 QUALITY ASSURANCE

   1.06 QUALIFICATIONS

    A. Manufacturer: Company specializing in manufacturing the Products specified in this section with minimum five years documented experience.

   1.07 REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS

    A. Fire Rated Frame Construction: Conform to ASTM E152, NFPA 252 and UL 10B.

    B. Installed Frame Assembly: Conform to NFPA 80 for fire rated class same as fire door.

   1.08 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

    A. Deliver, store, protect, and handle products to site under provisions of Section 01600.

    B. Protect frames with resilient packaging sealed with heat shrunk plastic.

    C. Break seal on-site to permit ventilation.

   1.09 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

    A. Deliver, store, protect and handle products to site under provisions of Section 01600.

    B. Accept frames on site in manufacturer's packaging. Inspect for damage.

   1.10 FIELD MEASUREMENTS

   PART 2 - PRODUCTS

   2.01 FRAME MANUFACTURERS

   2.02 FRAMES

    A. Steel: Galvanized sheet in accordance with ASTM A525.

    B. Exterior Frames: 14 gage thick material.

    C. Interior Frames: 16 gage thick material.

   2.03 ACCESSORIES

    A. Silencers: Resilient rubber fitted into drilled hole.

    B. Bituminous Coating: Fibered asphalt emulsion.

    C. Primer: Zinc chromate co-ordinate with Section 09900.

   2.04 FABRICATION

    A. Fabricate frames to HMMA 802 and 820, style and configuration to suit doors specified in Section 08114.

    B. Fabricate frames as welded unit.

    C. Transom Bars for Glazed Lights: Fixed type, of same profiles as jamb and head.

    D. Fabricate frames with hardware reinforcement plates welded in place. Provide mortar guard boxes.

    E. Fabricate frames for fire rated openings to HMMA 850. Attach fire rated label to each frame.

    F. Reinforce frames wider than 48 inches with roll formed steel channels fitted tightly into frame head, flush with top.

    G. Prepare frame for silencers. Provide three single silencers for single doors and mullions of double doors on strike side. Provide two single silencers on frame head at double doors without mullions. Provide no silencers on exterior doors.

    H. Configure exterior frames with special profile to receive recessed weatherstripping.

    I. Frames shall have 1-1/2 x 10-inch, 14-ga crimped tee masonry wall anchors located one foot from top and bottom of frame and a maximum of 2-1/2-feet intermittent spacing, with a minimum of 3 anchors per jamb. UL approved anchors shall be provided for labeled frames.

    J. At steel or concrete columns and at locations where masonry anchors cannot be used, 2-inch by buck width, 18-ga tension plates with tube spacers welded to bucks shall be provided at approximately 24-inch centers. Frames shall be drilled and countersunk for 1/4-inch flathead bolts set below the surface, filled with body putty, and ground smooth.

    K. Exterior frames shall be equipped with factory applied 16-ga drips at the head, welded in place.

   2.05 FINISH

    A. Primer: Baked on shop applied suitable for field painting.

    B. Coat inside of frame profile with bituminous coating to a thickness of 1/16 inch.

   PART 3 -EXECUTION

   3.01 EXAMINATION

    A. Verify substrate conditions under provisions of Section 01039.

    B. Verify that opening sizes and tolerances are acceptable.

   3.02 INSTALLATION

    A. Install frames in accordance with HMMA 840 and HMMA 830 DHI for hardware installation.

    B. Coordinate with masonry wall construction for anchor placement.

    C. Coordinate installation of glass and glazing.

    D. Coordinate installation of frames with installation of hardware specified in Section 08710 and doors in Section 08114.

    E. Install roll formed steel reinforcement channels between two abutting frames. Anchor to structure and floor.

    F. Touch-up damaged factory finished frames before field painting.

   3.03 ERECTION TOLERANCES

    A. Maximum Diagonal Distortion: 1/16 inch measured with straight edges, crossed corner to corner.
