PART 1 - GENERAL

1.04 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
A. Electric motor operated unit with manual override in case of power failure.
1.05 DESIGN REQUIREMENTS
Design door shutter assembly to withstand wind/suction load of 20 psf, without undue deflection or damage to door or assembly components.

1.06 SUBMITTALS
A. Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
B. Shop Drawings: Indicate pertinent dimensioning, anchorage methods, hardware locations, and installation details.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.01 MANUFACTURERS - ROLLING STEEL DOORS
A. Atlas Roll-Lite Overhead Doors: "Rolling Service Door" Series.
B. J.G. Wilson Corp.: "Rolling Steel Door" Series.
C. Substitutions: Under provisions of Section 01600.
2.02 MATERIALS
A. Curtain: Conforming to the following:
1. Slats: Interlocking, minimum 22 gage of ANSI/ASTM A526 steel, galvanized to minimum 1.25 oz/sq ft coating in accordance with ASTM A525; single thickness slat.
B. Guides: 3/16 inch minimum steel angles, continuous, vertical mounted; galvanized steel mounting brackets.
C. Roller Shaft Counterbalance: Steel pipe and helical steel spring system, capable of producing torque sufficient to assure smooth operation of curtain from any position; with adjustable spring tension.
D. Hood Enclosure and Fascia: 24 gage thick galvanized steel internally reinforced to maintain rigidity and shape.
E. Hardware: Specified in Section 08710.
F. Weatherstripping: Moisture and rot proof, resilient type, located at jamb edges guides, bottom of curtain, and where curtain enters hood enclosure (hood baffle).
2.03 ELECTRIC OPERATOR
A. Electric Operator:
1. Description: ANSI/UL 325, side mounted.
2. Motor Enclosure: NEMA MG1 Type 4 NEMA standard for operators in corrosive or explosive atmosphere; open drip proof TEFC.
3. Motor Rating: 3/4 hp; continuous duty.
4. Motor Voltage: 460 volt, three phase, 60 Hz.
5. Motor Controller: NEMA ICS 2, full voltage, reversing magnetic motor starter with thermal overload protection.
6. Controller Enclosure: NEMA 250 Type 4.
7. Door Speed: 9 to 12 inches per second.
8. Brake: Adjustable friction clutch type, solenoid operated, activated by motor controller.
9. Limit Switches: Adjustable rotary type, synchronized with the doors. Limit switches will remain in time when emergency chain hoist or disconnect is used and door is operated manually.
B. Control Station: Standard three button (open-close-stop) control for each operator; fully guarded to prevent accidental operation; 24 volt circuit; surface mounted, NEMA 4 enclosure for exterior applications; NEMA standard enclosure for controls in corrosive or explosive atmosphere where indicated on Contract Drawings.
C. Safety Edge: Located at door bottom, full width, electro-mechanical sensitized type, wired to stop and reverse door upon striking object, hollow rubber covered weather seal.
2.04 FINISHES
A. Curtain Slats: Prime paint.
B. Steel Guides and Hood Enclosure: Prime paint and prepare for paint finish.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01 EXAMINATION
A. Verify openings under provisions of Section 01039.
B. Verify that opening sizes, tolerances and conditions are acceptable.
3.02 INSTALLATION
A. Install door unit assembly in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
B. Use anchorage devices to securely fasten assembly to wall construction and building framing without distortion or stress.
C. Securely brace components suspended from structure. Secure guides to steel jambs and/or masonry wall.
D. Fit and align assembly including hardware; level and plumb, to provide smooth operation.
E. Coordinate installation of electrical service with Section 16180. Complete wiring from disconnect to unit components and from fire alarm system to door operator.
F. Coordinate installation of sealants and backing materials at frame perimeter as specified in Section 07900.
G. Install perimeter trim and closures.
3.03 ERECTION TOLERANCES
A. Maintain dimensional tolerances and alignment with adjacent work.
B. Maximum Variation From Plumb: 1/16 inch.
C. Maximum Variation From Level: 1/16 inch.
D. Longitudinal or Diagonal Warp: Plus or minus 1/8 inch per 10 ft straight edge.
3.04 ADJUSTING
A. Adjust work under provisions of Section 01700.
B. Adjust door, hardware and operating assemblies.
3.05 CLEANING
A. Clean work under provisions of 01700.
B. Clean door and components.
C. Remove labels (except for code required labels) and visible markings.
