PART 1 - GENERAL

02 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Manufacturer: For each product specified, provide components by same manufacturer throughout.
B. Manufacturers with five (5) years experience in design and construction.
C. Refer to Specifications Section 15308: Plumbing General Provisions.
D. Materials and installation shall comply with federal, state and local code requirements.
03 SUBMITTALS
A. Refer to Specifications Section 15308: Plumbing General Provisions for specified requirements.
04 NON-SPECIFIED/LISTED PRODUCT OR MATERIAL SUBSTITUTIONS
A. Refer to Specifications Section 15308: Plumbing General Provisions, and Section 15309: Plumbing Product or Material Substitution Request Form.
B. If a manufacturer or Contractor wishes a non-specified/listed product or material to be considered and listed as an equivalent product or material, the above listed specifications sections shall be correctly followed, and submitted, or the proposed substitution shall be denied.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
05 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS - SANITARY WASTE PIPING CLEANOUTS
A. Jay R. Smith Manufacturing Company.
B. Wade Division/Tyler Pipe.
C. Jonespec/Jones Manufacturing, Inc.
D. Or as specifically specified.
2.02 CLEANOUTS
A. Exterior Areas: Jay R. Smith Number 4231-PB, round cast iron, polished bronze access frame and non-skid cover, gasket type cleanout.
B. Finished Concrete Floors: Jay R. Smith Number 4031-PB, round cast iron, polished bronze access frame and non-skid cover, gasket type cleanout.
C. Wall: Jay R. Smith Number 4472, round countersunk brass plug with round stainless steel access cover with screw. Used in conjunction with tapped sanitary "T" fitting.
2.03 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS - REDUCED PRESSURE BACKFLOW PREVENTERS
A. Febco/Division of CMB Industries.
B. Hersey Products, Inc.
C. Watts Regulator Company.
2.04 REDUCED PRESSURE BACKFLOW PREVENTERS
A. Reduced Pressure Backflow Preventers: ANSI/ASSE 1013; 3/4-inch thru 2-inch: bronze body with bronze and plastic internal parts, stainless steel springs; reversible seat disc, two independently operating spring loaded check valves, diaphragm type differential pressure relief valve, located between check valves, non-threaded vent outlet, air gap fitting, entering side strainer, four test cocks, full port ball valves. 2-1/2-inch thru 10-inch: same specification as listed above with the following exceptions; ductile iron body, stainless steel check valve assembly, NRS gate valves.
B. Furnish and install required size and numbers of reduced pressure backflow preventer fixed air gap drain fitting(s).
C. Refer to Schedule and Details on Contract Drawings.
2.05 WATER HAMMER ARRESTORS (SHOCK ABSORBERS)
A. ANSI A112.26.1; sized in accordance with PDI WH-201, precharged suitable for operation in temperature range -100 to 300 degrees F and maximum 250 psig working pressure.
B. Refer to Specifications Section 15441, Plumbing Fixtures for additional information.
C. Install water hammer arrestors (shock absorbers) per recommendations of manufacturer and as shown on the Contract Drawings.
2.06 CATHODIC PROTECTION FOR UNDERGROUND EXTERIOR OF BUILDING NATURAL, PROPANE OR LIQUIFIED PETROLEUM GAS SERVICE LINES
A. Installation and material(s) shall meet with ANSI 223.1; National Fuel Gas Code, "Protection Against Corrosion", and the SBCC Standard Gas Code, "Protection Against Corrosion", latest editions.
B. Furnish and install sacrificial magnesium anodes at locations shown on Contract Drawings.
C. Refer to detail on Contract Drawings.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
06 INSTALLATION AND APPLICATION
A. Install specialties in accordance with manufacturer's instructions so as to permit proper and intended performance including, access for servicing and cleaning.
B. Sanitary Cleanouts:
1. Locate line size cleanouts, (6 inch cleanouts are largest required in any line), at base of soil, waste and rainwater leaders/storm water stacks, and at changes in direction and in straight runs. Spacing in straight runs shall not exceed 50 feet for pipe 3 inch and smaller and 75 feet for 4 inch and larger piping.
2. Cleanouts not accessible, which cannot be made easily accessible otherwise, shall be extended up through floor and/or wall if allowed by codes.
3. Locate floor cleanouts a minimum of 18 inches from vertical walls, casework or any floor mounted or fix obstruction.
B. Reduced Pressure Backflow Preventers:
1. Pipe relief through fixed air gap and discharge to floor drain and/or as shown on Contract Drawings.
2. Install adjacent to wall and/or floor utilizing stand-off brackets, angle frame, and/or concrete piers; refer to detail on Contract Drawings.
3. Test unit for leaks and pressure drop. Clean and/or replace soiled strainer media.
4. Installation and materials shall comply with federal, state and local code requirements, including mounting heights of reduced pressure backflow preventer(s) from finished floor level.
C. Water Hammer Arrestors (Shock Absorbers):
1. Install water hammer arrestors (shock absorbers) so access and maintenance can be performed without disturbing walls and non-liftout ceilings.
2. Water hammer arrestors (shock absorbers) shall be tested and certified by Plumbing and Drainage Institute (PDI).
3. Furnish and install finished wall or ceiling access panels at water hammer arrestors (shock absorbers) installations.
3.02 SCHEDULES AND DETAILS
A. Refer to Contract Drawings for schedules and details.
