   PART 1 - GENERAL

    01 WORK INCLUDED

    A. Contractor shall provide and install factory packaged domestic water heater(s), storage type, with recovery section, storage tank, controls, thermometers, water connections, valves and other related appurtenances for a complete and operating system.

    02 QUALITY ASSURANCE

    A. Provide domestic water heater(s) with manufacturer's name, model number, capacity, and ratings, identified on heater unit(s).

    B. Ensure domestic water heater(s) and installation are in conformance with recommendations and requirements of the following organizations.

    1. Underwriters' Laboratory (UL).

    2. National Electrical Manufacturer's Association (NEMA).

    3. National Electrical Code (NEC).

    C. Ensure domestic water heater(s) operate at specified fluid temperatures and output flows and quantities.

    1.02 REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS

    A. Conform to Federal, State, Local, and Health Codes and requirements for domestic water heater construction and installation.

    B. Refer to Specifications Section 15308: Plumbing General Provisions for specified requirements.

    1.03 SUBMITTALS

    A. Refer to Specifications Section 15308: Plumbing General Provisions for specified requirements.

    B. Submit product data, capacities, flows, sizes, connections, warranties, and other related requirements.

    1.04 NON-SPECIFIED/LISTED PRODUCT OR MATERIAL SUBSTITUTIONS

    A. Refer to Specifications Section 15308: Plumbing General Provisions, and Section 15309: Plumbing Product or Material Substitution Request Form.

    B. If a manufacturer or Contractor wishes a non-specified/listed product or material to be considered and listed as an equivalent product or material, the above listed specifications sections shall be correctly followed, and submitted, or the proposed substitution shall be denied.

    1.05 OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE DATA

    A. Submit operation and maintenance data under provisions of Specifications Section 15308: Plumbing General Provisions.

    B. Include operation, maintenance, and inspection data, replacement part numbers and availability, and service depot location and telephone number.

    1.06 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

    A. Deliver domestic water heater(s) to site under provisions of Specifications Section 15308: Plumbing General Provisions.

    B. Store and protect domestic water heater(s) under provisions of Specifications Section 15308: Plumbing General Provisions.

    C. Provide temporary inlet and outlet caps.

    D. Maintain caps in place until installation completion.

    1.07 WARRANTY

    A. Provide standard manufacturer's warranty for domestic water heater(s) as specified and as under provisions of Specifications Section 15308: Plumbing General Provisions.

   PART 2 - PRODUCTS

    03 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS - DOMESTIC WATER HEATER(S) (ELECTRIC)

    A. Hesco of Nashville, Inc. (615/242-7600).

    B. State Industries, Inc.

    C. Ruud Water Heater Division/City Investing Company.

    D. Lochinvar.

    E. P.V.I. Inc.

    2.02 DOMESTIC WATER HEATER(S) (ELECTRIC)

    A. Interior of tank surfaces shall be coated with a baked on high silica porcelainized/glass lining for protection against rust and corrosion.

    B. Domestic water heater(s) shall be furnished complete with magnesium anode rod for cathodic protection, energy cut off switch with 100 percent shut down in the event of an over-temperature situation. ASME temperature pressure relief valve, immersion thermostats, 120 volt control circuit, factory fusing, temperature limiting device and drain valve shall be factory installed.

    C. Domestic water heater(s) shall be insulated with 2 inches of fiberglass insulation and enclosed with an enameled steel jacket covering.

    D. Domestic water heater(s) shall include standard equipment as shown on manufacturer's specification sheet.

    E. ASME listed and rated temperature and pressure relief valve.

    F. Furnish and install in-line tank vacuum breaker per federal, state, and local code requirements.

    G. Pre-molded plastic or galvanized drain pan.

   PART 3 - EXECUTION

    04 PREPARATION

    A. Verify exact location and clearance requirements for domestic water heater(s), before installation.

    05 INSTALLATION

    A. Domestic water heater(s) shall have an input recovery and storage capacity as scheduled on the Contract Drawings.

    B. Domestic water heater(s) shall include standard equipment as shown on manufacturer's specification sheet, shall fit properly into the space provided and shall conform to the schedule, detail(s), and Contract Drawing requirements.

    C. Installation shall be in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations, schedule, detail(s), and Contract Drawings.

    D. Electrical connections shall be as specified under provisions of other sections of the specifications.

    06 TESTING AND CLEANING

    A. Clean and flush interior and exterior of domestic water heater(s) of foreign matter. Touch-up and/or repaint exterior jacket of domestic water heater(s), as required, with matching factory applied color(s).

    B. Test domestic water heater(s) under load conditions.

    07 SCHEDULE AND DETAIL(S)

    A. Refer to schedule and detail(s) on Contract Drawings.
