SECTION 16110
ELECTRICAL RACEWAY
PART 1 GENERAL
1.01 Description:
A. This section includes the furnishing, installation and connection of conduit, fittings, etc., to form a complete coordinate grounded raceway system.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.01 Steel Conduit:
A. All conduit shall be rigid or intermediate galvanized conduit except as noted elsewhere.
B. Conduit shall be Republic Steel, Southwire or equal.
2.02 Flexible Conduit:
A. Flexible conduit shall be steel or aluminum by Anaconda or equivalent. Minimum size for branch circuits shall be 1/2". Light fixture connections may be made with 3/8" flexible conduit.
B. Flexible conduit installed outside or in other areas exposed to moisture shall be liquidtight type. Liquidtight fittings shall be T & B series 5333 or equivalent.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.01 General:
A. Minimum size raceway shall be 3/4" size.
B. Where raceway is run exposed, it shall run parallel to and/or at right angles to the building lines and shall be grouped in banks where possible (this applies to vertical and horizontal runs alike).
C. All raceway shall be installed in a manner indicative of good workmanship and bends shall be made using tools specifically designed for this purpose to prevent kinks or flattened-out areas. Do not heat steel raceway to bend.
D. All raceway shall be hacksaw cut square and reamed smooth.
E. All raceway shall be continuous from outlet to outlet or outlet to device or panelboard.
F. Support and clamp all raceway both horizontally and vertically at intervals not to exceed the spacing specified in Article 346 of the latest NEC. The use of wire or perforated metal straps for support or attachment to structural members is prohibited.
G. Cap ends of raceway to prevent entrance of water or other foreign materials during construction.
H. Use only cast conduit bodies (condulets) where field bends will not allow raceway to remain tight against building walls or ceilings.
I. Where conduits are to be left empty for other use or installation of conductors by others, provide and install a pull cord for future use.
J. All raceway in explosion-proof areas shall be rigid galvanized steel conduit. All conduit entering an explosion-proof area shall be provided with seal-off fittings.
K. All underground conduit shall be encased, 3" minimum.
3.02 Steel Conduit:
A. Steel conduit shall be secured to all boxes with bushings and double locknuts so that the system shall be electrically continuous from service to all outlets. Cut threads full length so that conduit ends will butt in the couplings.
B. Bushings shall be impact resistant plastic, U.L. Listed for 1050 C. flame retardant and U.L. rated 94V-1, T&B series 222 or equivalent.
3.03 Flexible Conduit:
A. All motor or final equipment connections shall be made with a short section of flexible metal conduit. Exterior or damp locations shall use liquid tight flexible metal conduit such as "Sealtite" for final connections.
B. Flexible conduit shall be used for connections to all light fixtures and equipment subject to vibration.
C. Flexible conduit shall be supported in accordance with Section 350-4 of the latest National Electrical Code.

Rembco Geotechnical Contractors specializes in slope stabilization, foundation repair and support, shoring, grouting, soil nails, micropile installations, and sinkholes. We are experienced in these applications: micro piles, sinkhole repair, permeation grouting, pressure grouting, soil nails, chemical grouting, micropiles, compaction grout, rock anchors and compaction piles. Our specialties are rock anchor, chemical and compaction grouting, mini piles, sinkhole repair, micropiles, and soil nailing. We use a problem-solving approach in the geotechnical portions of buildings, bridges, water plants, sewage plants, tunnels, sinkholes, caisson, and roads. Rembco techniques apply when adding new real estate structures: especially rock anchor, microfine grouting, soil nailing, micropile installations for foundation support.
