REMBCO PROVIDES FACELIFT ON NATIONAL PARK LANDMARK
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - July 15, 2008
Indian Head is a geologic landmark near Townsend,
Tennessee, in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Its massive
forehead, eye brows, nose, mouth and chin lurk overhead as motorists pass underneath.

Park geologists, concerned about deterioration and
cracking, recently decided that it was time to act. To avoid a threat to both
the landmark and to passing traffic, the park contracted with Rembco to install
a stabilization system that included three separate products: rock gluing (with
polyurethane injections), three types of rock bolts, and a finish application of
“bolder-scaped” and stained gunite.
By every standard, the job was a great success. The technical objectives were
achieved safely, on-time, and with minimum inconvenience to park visitors. With
the facelift complete, we are confident that sight-seers will be greeted by the
familiar (and stable) silhouette for many years to come.
When you encounter geotechnical challenges…big or small…no matter how unusual,
remember Rembco - we are the Stabilizing Force.
